White Gold Alliance

White gold wedding band: elegance and sophistication in its purest form!

Marriage is a once-in-a-lifetime ceremony: it unites two people forever. Therefore, traditions, whose origins we sometimes ignore, are often respected: the wedding dress, the tiered cake, the throwing of the bouquet, and the opening dance are all essential moments of a wedding. The same goes for the two rings that the bride and groom exchange during the ceremony, symbols of their eternal union. This essential piece of jewelry, traditionally made of yellow gold, has evolved aesthetically over time and is now available in rose gold, platinum, and also white gold. Discover the white gold wedding bands from Maison Bäumer.

The ring, a true symbol

The wedding band is the most symbolic piece of jewelry. Whether in white, yellow, or rose gold, or platinum, the ring exchanged by newlyweds on their wedding day has become the most recognized piece of jewelry in the world. The first traces of wedding and engagement rings are believed to have appeared in ancient Egypt. They can be thin or thick and made of any desired metal. This ring is usually worn on the ring finger of the left hand, a finger directly connected to the heart. The circular shape of the ring symbolizes eternity. Thus, the wedding band has become an emblematic piece of jewelry, globally recognized for its symbolic value.

The advantages of white gold

White gold is a metal obtained after undergoing a special treatment called rhodium plating. This means that the base gold has been covered with a thin layer of metal (called rhodium) to give it its white color and shine.

If white gold is an increasingly popular and used alloy in jewelry, it is due to the physical and aesthetic characteristics of this metal. Indeed, this alloy has many advantages.

To begin with, white gold is a metal of exceptional quality because 18-carat gold is recognized as the most resistant metal used in jewelry. Moreover, this quality makes it inoxidable and therefore much more durable over time. This metal is also more accessible than platinum, a metal also used for engagement rings or wedding bands.

The aesthetic appeal of white gold is highly appreciated by a majority of people. Indeed, one of its main advantages is that it goes with all colors of stones: emerald, ruby, sapphire, tourmaline, spinel or other stones. White gold combines perfectly with these. Diamonds commonly adorn wedding bands and engagement rings, for their brilliance and symbolism. Thus, white gold is an ideal metal for all types of jewelry: necklace, bracelet, earrings, pendant or ring. This metal goes perfectly with everyday jewelry.

Different types of white gold wedding bands

Wedding bands are a classic piece of jewelry. Our Maison offers three types of white gold wedding bands:

Simple wedding bands: The rings are made of white gold only, simple yet elegant jewelry. These wedding bands are perfect to be paired with diamond engagement rings.

Micro-pave wedding bands: The white gold rings are paved with white diamonds, bringing brilliance and sparkle to the ring.

More original wedding bands: White gold wedding bands are original and unique creations with fine and delicate lines. The white gold can be set with diamonds or other stones and features more original shapes (this is the case for our Heartbeat, Aqua Wave or 19 wedding bands with several overlapping rings).

For women as for men, the wedding band is the jewel of a lifetime. With several models of wedding bands, with different gold colors and stones of different sizes, Maison Bäumer can also create the wedding jewel of your dreams by custom-making it. Because love is priceless, an engraving or a specific stone can be added to your ring.

To move away from the classic style and approach a more original style, you can also be tempted by the mix of golds on a single two-tone wedding band. For example, white and rose gold are found on our 19.2 wedding band as well as our solitaires. These models, found within our 19 collection, are original and timeless models.

How to choose your white gold wedding band?

To choose the white gold wedding band that's right for you, trust your preferences and desires. The important thing is to follow your wishes and/or those of your loved one.

You'll need to choose the right ring size. To do this, you'll need to measure your ring finger and that of your future spouse. Whether directly at home or at your jeweler's. If you have long, slender fingers, thinner wedding bands are recommended.

Finally, pay particular attention to the aesthetics of your ring in relation to the engagement ring you already own. For example, a simple wedding band will perfectly complement a diamond-studded engagement ring. Conversely, a micro-pavé wedding band will go just as well with a simpler engagement ring.

Because this wedding band is the symbol of your eternal love, you can personalize it to suit your desires. Indeed, for both women and men, Lorenz Bäumer enjoys creating new jewelry models. Add a special engraving around your wedding band, such as a letter, a first name, or a specific word on your ring, which can already be set with diamonds or another stone.

Every love story is unique; make your ring even more original by creating a wedding band that you won't find anywhere else.

Diamonds and white gold: a winning duo of refined elegance

As explained previously, although white gold easily pairs with all colored gemstones, diamonds remain the stone that best complements this alloy. White diamonds will stand out more and bring brilliance and sparkle to your original setting.

You can also pair your diamond wedding band with a bangle bracelet, also set (or not) with diamonds. For example, the Battement de Coeur collection offers a wide selection of white gold or rose gold wedding bands set with diamonds that can perfectly match a bangle bracelet, a chain, or another piece of jewelry such as a necklace or earrings.

The diamond is the wedding stone par excellence. Indeed, this exceptionally brilliant stone is equally appealing when pavé-set around a band or set in the heart of a solitaire. As with any piece of jewelry, the cut of the diamond and its carat weight will influence the price of the final wedding band or ring. Maison Bäumer offers a wide selection of wedding bands, set with diamonds or other colored stones such as emeralds, rubies, or sapphires.

Diamonds perfectly complement the lines of your jewelry. In pavé settings, diamonds can be set around the entire band (full pavé) or only halfway around (half pavé). In this sense, the price of a half pavé will necessarily be lower than that of a full pavé.

How to care for your white gold wedding ring?

Gold, whether white, rose, black, or yellow, is a noble and precious metal, sought after for its incomparable brilliance, durability, and quality. However, this metal can tarnish over time and requires special care and maintenance. Daily activities such as household chores, dust, and other elements affect the brilliance of gold and the sparkle of gemstones by dirtying them and deteriorating their polish.

Note that you should never clean gold jewelry with products intended for cleaning silver, as they are not the same metal. Furthermore, this would damage the rhodium plating of white gold. Other elements to avoid include perfume, which contains alcohol that can damage the metal, hairspray, and abrasive products like bleach and detergents.

If your white gold ring is adorned with precious stones, you will need to adapt your cleaning method. Emeralds and pearls are fragile stones that do not tolerate hot water well. Also, products that leave a film or a greasy residue are not recommended for cleaning diamonds, as they may tarnish them. Generally, hot water with dish soap or Marseille soap are the most commonly used and effective techniques.

What is the difference between platinum and white gold?

Platinum is often confused with white gold because they have a similar appearance. However, platinum, unlike white gold, is a naturally white metal. It is more expensive and heavier than white gold. Moreover, since this metal is denser, it is more difficult to work with but has superior quality. Thus, platinum is often preferred for wedding bands, while white gold is more commonly used for engagement rings. White gold has a brighter and whiter hue.
